Perry Park Ranch - Larkspur, Colorado
Reaching Perry Park Ranch, only 20 minutes from the heart of Castle Rock, Colorado, one drives through some of the finest scenery on the Front Range. A region where formations of red, pink and white sandstone thrust their pinnacles through forests of pine. Originally inhabited by Native American tribes, the Perry Park area was primarily empty until the 1858 Gold Rush. In 1863 it became the 4000-acre cattle ranch of John Perry, president of the Kansas Pacific Railroad. In 1891, the Redstone Company engaged Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of New York’s Central Park and the Boston Commons to plan a resort village with casino, museum/library plus three lakes with separate residential areas. Though most of the plans never got off the drawing board, a few “cottages” were constructed for wealthy Denver businessmen.
Still a secret Colorado treasure and framed by Pike National Forest, providing a sense of seclusion and serenity and the appearance of deer, fox, and the occasional bear, the area boasts one of Colorado's premier golf courses, Perry Park Country Club and a living experience that seems a world away that is not far away.
